Obituary

Mr. Clyde Mowery, 87, of Climax went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the early morning hours of Friday, October 23, 2026 at AuthoraCare Collective Beacon Place.

Funeral service will be held at Burnetts Chapel Church on Monday, October 26, 2026 beginning at 2:00pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00pm prior to the service at the church.

Clyde was born on July 27, 1939 in Randolph County to the late Clyde Chapman Mowery and Martha Elizabeth Reynolds Mowery. Clyde graduated from Pleasant Garden High School. Clyde was a proud employee of Keebler Company before he retired with many years of faithful service. Following his retirement, he went back to work for Time Warner Cable. Clyde was also a faithful member of Burnetts Chapel Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and woodworking, and he could fix anything you could break – as long as he had his duct tape and bandaids. Clyde enjoyed gospel music and classic country music as well as his favorite show, The Lone Ranger, and watching NASCAR and wrestling. He also enjoyed gathering with friends over the years at Waffle House and then at Bojangles. He was known by many nicknames including Gene, Toad, Tobe, Blimp, his CB Handle: Crackerbox, and his favorite: PawPaw. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Clyde is preceded in death by his siblings Jane Graham, Wayne Mowery, and Kenneth Mowery.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 65 years Mary Thompson Mowery; his children Clyde Alan Mowery (Sandra) and Barbara Mowery Haskins (John); his adoring grandchildren Kathleen “Kit” Bella Hoover, Megan Lane Mowery (Tino), and Dalton Chapman Mowery; one great-grandson Augustino Tanco; sisters Lorena Fields and Elizabeth “Betsy” Lee. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
