Ms. Courtney Elaine Flinchum passed away on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026.

Funeral service will be held 12:00pm Friday, October 9th, 2026 at George Brothers Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Gilmore Memorial Park.

Courtney is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, O.C. Flinchum, Jr. and Peggy Flinchum; and her maternal grandparents, Eugene Stanley Mitchell, Jr. and Betty Jane Mathias Mitchell.

Courtney was born October 13, 1985 in Guilford County, NC to Gary Lynn Flinchum and Tina Mitchell Flinchum. From a young age, Courtney was known by her family as an avid reader, earning an award in 1st Grade for reading 401 books. Her love for books continued throughout her life and she had a way with words. Her family will treasure the many notes and Facebook posts she has written over the years. Courtney was also a lover of animals and brought home many pets including dogs, cats, birds, possums, and even mice. She especially cherished her pet cat "Jack."  Courtney had a joyful personality despite her many health challenges, and you could also count on her to be belting out her version of various songs from many different genres. Her joy and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Courtney is survived by her significant other, Jason Squires. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
