Gaythleen Griffith Mullins, 90, passed away on September 30, 2026. She was born April 10, 1936, in Jenkins, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Gaither G. Griffith and Nola S. Griffith. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mabel Mullins and Lillian Aldridge.

Gaythleen married Wayne T. Mullins on January 10, 1953, beginning a marriage that would span 55 years until his death on May 10, 2008.

Gaythleen was a woman of Christian faith whose life was centered on her family. Through the many seasons of her long life, she found great meaning in being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. The family she and Wayne built together remained an important part of her life throughout her 90 years.

She is survived by her five children: Jeffrey L. Mullins and wife Connie of Zebulon, North Carolina; Patricia M. Ritchie and husband Bill of Salisbury, North Carolina; Anthony A. Mullins and wife Susan of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina; Christopher G. Mullins of Louisville, Kentucky; and Jenifer M. Powell of Greensboro, North Carolina.

She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who continue the family legacy that meant so much to her.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Gilmore Memorial Park, 6504 Liberty Road, Julian, North Carolina 27283, where Gaythleen will be laid to rest beside her husband, Wayne.
