Ms. Gladys Marie Bates, 82, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023 at her home with her family by her side.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 11:00 am at Martin Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Long officiating.  Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.

Ms. Bates was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Bates; brother, Earnest Martin; and sister, Wanda Dona.

Gladys passion was working in and tending her garden.  She loved going to the mountains, going to church, watching her "stories".  She was a hard-working mother who cared deeply for her family.

She is survived by her children, Michael, Tony, Alan, Anna, and John Bates (and his wife Michelle); grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Lisa, Bradley, and Kaitlyn; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Ateara, Ava, Noah, and Cassara; and a host of family members and friends whom she loved.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00-11:00 am at Martin Avenue Baptist Church prior to the service.
