Our sweet angel, Dawsyn James Locklear, was born peacefully asleep on September 19th, 2026, at 7:55 a.m. Although our hearts were not ready, his wings were. He weighed 1 lb. 5 oz. and was so deeply loved.

He is survived by his mommy and daddy, Makayla Long and Cheveyo Locklear.

His grandparents are Amanda Locklear (Zeake), Jonathan and Dawn Long, and Kenneth Locklear (Kathy).

His aunts and uncles are Nathan Locklear, Hastin Locklear, Tiffani Locklear, Barry Long, Austin Long, and Kasey Long.

His cousins are Aleeah Locklear, Brayden Locklear, Karson Locklear, Colton Locklear, his newest cousin Brynlee Locklear, Haylin Long, Noah Long, and Wyatt Long.

A special service honoring him will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at George Brothers Funeral Home, followed by an 11:00 a.m. service at Guilford Memorial Park.

Our baby boy's time was brief, but his daddy and I will keep his name and memory alive forever. We say our final goodbyes as he waits for us beyond the gates of heaven.

You will see my tiny footprints, in the rustle of the leaves. I will whisper names into the wind, and call each one that grieves. Most of all, these tiny footprints, are found in mommy and daddy's heart, 'cause even though I'm gone now, we'll never truly part.
