Larry Dale Clayton, age 71, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2023, at Moses Cone Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

A service to honor Larry will be held at Southside Baptist Church on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at 2pm with visitation to follow in the Fellowship Hall.

Larry was born to the late Merle and Edna Clayton on October 4, 1951 in Greensboro, NC. He graduated from Grimsley Senior High School. Larry worked at Sears and Amp/Tyco where he later retired. Larry was a long-time member of Southside Baptist Church. Larry was an avid golfer and UNC Tarheel fan. Friends will always remember him as a selfless, kind and trustworthy man, with a witty sense of humor, and as a man of faith.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister, Linda Clayton.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dawn Godfrey Clayton and their loving dog Chloe, sister Cindy Vestal of Greensboro; Nieces Katherine Stanley of Greensboro, Kimberly Andrews and her husband Tommy of Randleman; and four grand-nieces and nephews: Olivia Hall of Greensboro, Tate Andrews, Luke Andrews and Shelby Andrews of Randleman.
