Mr. Layman Lewis Cash, age 91, went home to his Heavenly Father on Friday October 13, 2023, at Moses Cone Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, October 18 at George Brothers Funeral Service with Rev. Chris Phelps officiating the service.  A burial will follow at Gilmore Memorial Park, Julian, NC.

Mr. Cash was born in Prince Edwards County, Virginia to the late Lawrence and Cammie Whitesell Cash. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Korea.  A faithful member of Southeast Baptist Church, he served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and was a long-standing member of the Gideons.  He loved writing poetry and enjoyed volunteering his time and talents ministering to the residents of numerous nursing home facilities.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Cash was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Francis, and eight brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of seventy-one years, Sandra Cash, daughters Terry Cash and Bonnie Valentino (Tom), six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
