Mrs. Leida Mae Shaylor Mead, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 10, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, January 22, at George Brothers Funeral Service with Brother Jack Whitley officiating. The burial will take place at Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian.

Mrs. Mead was born in Bradford County, Pennsylvania on May 13, 1935, to the late Howard and Ruth Bardwell Shaylor. She faithfully served God as a pastor's wife for more than fifty years. Her husband's and her ministry began at Willseyville Community Baptist Church in New York where they served the congregation for thirty years. They were then called to serve at West Lenox Baptist Church in Pennsylvania where they served the congregation for ten years. They were also called to serve Shadow of the Cross Baptist Church in Asheboro, NC where they have faithfully served for the last ten years. Mrs. Mead served in many capacities in the churches and her legacy will live on through the many lives that she has touched down through the years. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Pastor Lee Wendell Mead; her children, Wendell Mead (Amy), Brent Mead (Mary) and Joy Abels (Stephen); eleven precious grandchildren; three precious great grandchildren and her beloved sister, Doris Reese.
