Mr. Raney Neal Phelps, 66, passed away early on Monday morning, December 19, 2022, at Cone Hospital.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, December 23, 2022, at the Lakeview Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Mr. Phelps was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Neal and Margie Pryor Phelps; and a sister, April Anderson.

Raney was the second eldest of seven children and was born in Danville, VA. He was the witty one of the family, always making jokes and cutting up. He enjoyed all things music, especially old country and southern gospel, and he played the base guitar. Raney loved eating good food, working on old cars, hunting, and fishing with his brother Jody and nephew Dusty. Mr. Raney was a fun-loving man who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Phelps is survived by his 5 siblings of South Boston, MA; Danville, VA; Greensboro, NC; Beulaville, NC; and Florida. Also surviving are many extended family members who loved him very much.
