Reverend Robert Frank Kurtz, of Greensboro, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 23, 2026 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 28, 2026 at George Brothers Funeral Service with Mark Weatherford officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.

Rev. Kurtz was born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late George and Hazel Kurtz. He attended Shelton College where he met his loving wife, the late Joan Omli Kurtz. Rev. Kurtz went on to graduate from Faith Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity. Rev. Kurtz served as Executive Director of Independent Faith Mission for forty-one years. He also served as Pastor of Greensboro Baptist Church since 1983 until two weeks ago when his health failed him.  He loved to sit and read his Bible and to study God's word every day. Dad was a good listener and gave wise advice to his sons and daughter. If dad said he would pray for you, he did. He always carried note cards in his shirt pocket with the ones he was praying for and with Bible verses he was studying.

He is survived by children Scott Kurtz (Karen), Kevin Kurtz, Jeff Kurtz (Sherry), Mark Kurtz (Sharron), and Karen Kurtz; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and one arriving anytime. Also surviving is brother Dan Kurtz.

The family will receive friends from 1-1:45 PM Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
