Mr. Roger Lee Hatchel went to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral service will be 4:00pm Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Centre Friends Meeting 325 NC-62 East, Greensboro, NC 27406 with Rev. Rusty Parsons and Rev. Tim Hayton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Hatchel was born in Galax, VA to the late Thomas Daniel and Ruth Maines Hatchel. He grew up in North Carolina from the age of 6. He worked as a mechanic for many years for several different companies including Stout Trucking and his own business, H&T Truck Services Inc. He was a hard-working jack-of-all-trades who enjoyed working alongside his son, Thomas and lifetime friend, the late Homer Thornburg. When not working, Mr. Hatchel enjoyed spending time with his wife and family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Clay Lee Hatchel; siblings Virginia Ward and husband Ray and Ronnie Ray Hatchel; and his lifetime friend and business partner, Homer Thornburg and wife Brenda.

Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Della "Delane" Elledge Hatchel; son Roger Thomas Hatchel and wife Brandy; daughter-in-law Alison Hatchel; grandchildren Dustin Lee, Brooke, Austin, Emery, Blaire, and Wyatt; siblings Emma Wilson and husband Steve, and Richard Hatchel and wife Linda; god-children Jay and Jamie Thornburg; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, coworkers, his church family, and friends who will miss Roger dearly.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at George Brothers Funeral Service 803 Greenhaven Drive Greensboro, NC 27406.
