Stephen "Steve" Odell Lemons, 74, passed away on March 11, 2023, after a 2-year battle with cancer.  Steve was born November 21, 1948, and grew up in Greensboro, NC.  In 1968, he enlisted in the US Navy and served his country until December 1971.  He worked 16 years with the Greensboro News and Record and retired from Continuous Forms and Checks, Inc.

He was preceded in death by his father, W.O. "Odell" Lemons; his mother, Betty "Jane" Lemons; brother Johnny Wayne Lemons; grandparents George W. and Mozelle Purcell and Jewell Lemons Fulp.

Steve is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ella "Libby" Lemons; son Brad Lemons (Tammy); daughter Kelly Brown (Jamie); grandsons Brendon Brown and Austin Lemons; granddaughter Haley Brown; sister Sheila May and sister-in-law Nancy Lemons.

Steve loved the outdoors, and you would often find him sitting on his front porch when the weather was nice.  He thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and looking for arrowheads. He looked forward to his annual camping and fishing trip at Buggs Island with his cousins, Billy Purcell, Gary Purcell, Ricky Purcell and a friend, Bobby Watson.

At Steve's request, there will be no services.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Hospice Home in Burlington, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215, or to a charity of your choice.
