Mr. A. Albert Phillips, 88, formerly of Browns Summit passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at WhiteStone Masonic and Eastern Star Home in Greensboro.
Memorial service with Masonic Rites will be held at WhiteStone Masonic and Eastern Star Home on Sunday May 4, 2025, at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mr. Phillips was born in Guilford County to the late Ward Albert Phillips and Ethel Williamson Phillips. He was a former member of Good Shepherd Church.
Albert was a committed and devoted Mason. He was a member of MESH Lodge #771, Guilford Lodge #656, The York Rite, Scottish Rite, and also a member of the Grand Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons of North Carolina. He served as Most Excellent Grand High Priest with Grand York Rite Bodies of North Carolina. Al received the honors of Knights York Court of Honor, Knight Commander of the Court of Honor, Order of the Purple Cross, the Grand Cross of Color, and many more.
Al was a hard worker all his life, supporting his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Albert is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Barbara Goodman Phillips; infant son James Rodney Phillips; daughter Joy Deborah Phillips.
Surviving are his sons John Dale Phillips (Gayle) and Joseph Carlton Phillips (Rebecca); Companion Shirley Fulk; also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
