Mr. Arvel “Ace” Belton, 91, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 12:00 pm at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Hefner and Pastor Michael Barret officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00-11:45 am, prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Belton was born March 1, 1931 in Guilford County to the late John Henry and Inez Allen Belton. He was a proud veteran of the US Marines Corps, serving his country during the Korean Conflict. Arvel retired from the US Postal Service and was an active member of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Usher, taught Sunday School and was a member of the church Honor Guard. He earned his Black Belt in Jujitsu and was very proud of that accomplishment.
In addition to his parents, Arvel was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Bobby Lashley Belton; daughter, Karen “Joy” Belton; son, Mark Lee Belton; and his brothers, Jack Henry Belton and Wallace Raymond Belton.
Survivors include his daughter, Bonnie Culler (Chris); 4 grandchildren, Charles, Shellie, Cameron and Matthew; 6 great grandchildren, Ashelyn, Abigail, Sophia, Ryan, John Jr. and Reese.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Garden Baptist Church, PO Box 157, Pleasant Garden, NC 27313.
