Barbara Dixon Fields, age 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 28, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Helen Brown and John Dixon. Barbara was born and reared in Greensboro, where she lived all of her life. She enjoyed life to the fullest and had many interests, including gardening, golf, puzzles, quilting, playing cards, reading and serving her church. However, her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family and friends. She will always be remembered for her beautiful and caring spirit and could light up a room with her smile. She loved her church and served as a VBS and Sunday School teacher, WMU leader and served on many committees. She will be remembered as the best mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and “Mamaw” ever. Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Jim Fields. She is survived by her five children, whom she loved with all her heart: Jimmy (wife Nancy), Charlie (wife Emily), Andy (wife Kathy), Carole Gibson (husband Ken), Ray (wife Tracy); her beautiful and loving eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, sisters-in-law Joyce Dixon, Helen Gall (husband John), brother-in-law Bobby (wife Emilie) and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Tom Dixon, and brother-in-law Jack (wife Jane). Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:45 immediately followed by a service at 2:00 on Friday, November 30th at Southside Baptist Church. The service will conclude at Guilford Memorial Park.
