Barbara Ann Caldwell Muir of Greensboro, North Carolina passed peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. Barbara was a native of Brockville, Ontario, Canada and is survived by her brother, Boyd (Wilma) Caldwell of Brockville, Ontario and her sister, Sharon Crawford of Don Mills, Ontario. She moved to Greensboro in 1960 with her then husband, Ron Muir, who played hockey with the Greensboro Generals. Barbara’s heart and life was her family. She was her happiest at her grandchildren’s games and events. She is survived by her (4) daughters: Elaine (Eric) Miller, Susie (Leonard) Barham, Sandy (Jay) Elliott, and Cindy (Greg) Creed. Her grandchildren are: Emily (Ted) Pierce, Joshua (Jessica) Elliott, Meagan (Darel) Crook, Melissa Miller, Deanna Miller, Lynsey Elliott, Zachary Creed, Taylor Creed, and Lance Elliott. Her great grandchildren are: Hayven Crook, Everett Pierce, Roan and Meris Elliott.
Barbara was a member of Concord Friends where she participated in women’s groups, community service, and taught Sunday school for many years. She served multiple organizations in the Sumner community over the years such as Girl Scouts, Brownies, Cadets, many different sports, and a church preschool teacher. Barbara worked as a receptionist at multiple businesses in Greensboro and concessions at the Greensboro Coliseum throughout her career.
Service to honor her life will be on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Concord Friends Meeting with her son-in-law, Greg Creed officiating. Concord Friends Meeting is at 5000 Old Randleman Road, Greensboro, NC. Visitation from 2:00 - 2:45 pm with service to follow at 3:00. Memorials can be made to: Concord Friends Building Fund and Wine to Water (winetowater.org). Live streaming of the service will be on Concord Friends Meeting Facebook page. For those attending the service, the family is requesting masks to be worn.
