Benjamin Nwanna Obituary

Benjamin Onyenwe Nwanna, 69, entered into the presence of the Lord on Monday, September 1, 2025, at his home in High Point, North Carolina.

The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 AM Friday, October 17, 2025 at Cathedral of His Glory with the funeral beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial will be in Awka, Nigeria.

Benjamin was born on October 18, 1955, in Awka, Nigeria, to the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Nwanna. He was the third of seven children and the first-born son. Growing up in Awka, Benjamin learned the values of hard work and responsibility early on, always ensuring his siblings were cared for while pursuing his studies.

At 18, he made the decision to travel over 8,000 miles from home to attend High Point University in North Carolina. During this time, he met the love of his life, Sharon, who became his devoted wife of over 47 years. Benjamin graduated from High Point University in 1982 and later earned his MBA from Governors State, University Park, Illinois in 1984.

Benjamin and Sharon enjoyed 9 years of marital bliss before welcoming their son, Brian Nwanna, on June 19, 1991, and later their daughter, Chelsea Nwanna, on March 5, 1996. With his family complete, Benjamin’s heart was full —

God and family were the only two things that truly mattered to him.

Benjamin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He owned a successful postal contracting business, served faithfully as a Deacon at CAC Apostle Church in High Point, and was an active member of the Oganiru Cultural Association, where he once served as Social Director.

Benjamin is survived by his wife Sharon Nwanna (High Point, N.C.), his son Brian Nwanna (Fayetteville, N.C.), his daughter Chelsea Nwanna (Charlotte, N.C.), his daughter-(in-love) Jessica Nwanna (Fayetteville, N.C.), and his two granddaughters Naomi and Kyra Nwanna. His sister Edith and surviving brothers Gilbert, Reginald and Clifford Nwanna, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of relatives.

Benjamin made many friends that later became more like family to him, just know if he ever joked with you or gave you a nickname or warmly embraced you, know that it was genuine because that was exactly what he was GENUINE.
