Bernard King, Jr. Obituary

Mr. Bernard James King, Jr., 86, passed away Thursday morning, December 19, 2024 at Maple Grove Nursing Home.

Funeral service will be held at Shining Light Baptist Church at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 30, 2024 with Pastor Gary Blalock officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Guilford Memorial Park.

Mr. King was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Beaulah Gunter King; and wife, Myrtie Dixon King.

Bernard was a master carpenter and loved to build homes, furniture, and anything with wood and was known as one of the best carpenters in Greensboro.  He was a lover and supporter of America, and proudly supported Donald Trump.  He loved the Lord, was a long-time member of Shining Light Baptist Church, served his country in the United States Air Force, and loved his beloved dogs, “Buddy” and “Sissy”.

He is survived by his son, Michael King; daughter, Carole Woodall (Mark); grandchildren, Katy-did, Nikki, and Jenny; great-grandchildren, Erica, Branson, Blake, Ayden, and Matthew; sisters, Zula Moore (Kendall) and Leanda Troutman (Wayne); best friend, Gene Pierce; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends whom he loved.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:45 pm at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shining Light Baptist Church 4530 W. Wendover Ave. Greensboro, NC 27409.
