Mrs. Betty Sue Barnes went home to meet her Lord, Saturday, February 6, 2021. When she passed away, she was holding her husband’s hand like she had done since she was 13 and was also surrounded by the rest of her loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at Cornerstone Independent Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11-12 Wednesday, prior to the service at the church.
Betty was born August 7, 1947 in Wilson County to the late Johnny Hubert and Florence Kendrick Taylor. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Taylor.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Samuel Lawrence Barnes, Jr.; sister, Mary Ann Hicks (Sonny); 6 children, Teresa Smith (Tim), Rose Beal (Barry), Earl Barnes (Tracey), Chris Barnes (Debbie), Sheila Southern (Jason) and Jessica Crawford (James); 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church, Womens Missionary Society Fund, 3228 Hines Chapel Road, Greensboro, NC 27405.
