Betty Younger Smith, 91, took her first breath in Heaven on the morning of Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at her home.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1pm on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Bethel Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall, and other times at the home.
Betty was born May 22, 1934 in Alamance County to the late John Osborne Younger, Sr. and Mary Fannie Ward Younger. She graduated from Gibsonville High School, where she played basketball. She was a lifetime member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. Her and her husband owned and operated Pirates Cove Marina and Resort in Port Salerno, Florida. Betty was a hairdresser, and also caterer who catered many weddings. She spent most of her life farming alongside her husband and children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Smith, Sr.; siblings, Johnny Younger, Ann Campbell, John O. Younger, Jr., Roy Younger, Norma Wasko, Linda Huey, and, Janie Brewer.
Betty is survived by her children, George F. Smith, Jr. (Donna) and Cynthia Fryar (Rankin); grandchildren, Michelle Hayes (Chad), Christian Kohler, Caroline Hollandsworth (Scott), George Smith III (Ashlee), Robbie Fryar (Lauren); great-grandchildren, Megan, Mackenzie, Drake, Lilly, Branson, Scarlett, Hazel, MJ, Lynlee and Pearl; great-great grandchildren, Lenora and Brooks; bonus grandchildren, Austin, Taylor, CJ, Aaron, Katelynn, and John; siblings, Charles Younger, Debra Sloop and Wayne Younger; and many nieces and nephews.
