Betty Lorraine (Broas) Ulrich

Mrs. Betty Lorraine Broas Hawkins Ulrich, 83, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Jacob’s Creek Nursing and Rehab in Madison.

A private family memorial service will be held.

Betty was preceded in death by her first and second husband, Bill Hawkins and Donald Ulrich, Sr.; her son, Bill Hawkins, III; and her granddaughter, Avery.

Betty was known to many as “Gerny”.  She was an incredible nurse, working as a LPN for over 30 years.  She enjoyed crocheting, playing Skip Bo with her family, and writing poems.  Betty always enjoyed smoking, drinking coffee, and chatting with her “smoke crew” at Jacob’s Creek.  She loved her dogs, Kujo, Bambi, and Doodles, all who passed away before her; and as a young girl she had a pet crow named Perry Crow-Mo.  Most of all, she was known for her faith and love for Jesus.

She is survived by her son, Don Ulrich (Jennifer); daughter, Betty Senor (Scott); daughter, Cathy Albertson (Bruce); daughter-in-law, Brenda Hawkins; grandchildren, William, IV, Robert, Kendrick, Truman, Olivia, Mackenzie, Jaidyn, Madelyn, Jakob, Kayla, Conor, Jordan, and Christopher; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends whom she loved.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse or to your local animal shelter in Betty’s name.

The family would like to extend a very grateful and heart-felt “Thank You” the staff and residents at Jacob’s Creek for making her last days fun and full of love.
