Bobby Thomas Wilson

Mr. Bobby Thomas Wilson, age 92, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Arbor Ridge Retirement Community in Kernersville, North Carolina.

Mr. Wilson was born in Alamance County to the late Jessie and Annabelle Thomson Wilson.  He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1955-1957.  Having a heart of serving, Bobby served the City of Greensboro as a Fire Chief for twenty-nine years at the Guilford College Fire Department. He also served as a Fire Instructor for thirty-one years with the North Carolina Department of Community Colleges.  He was a faithful member of Guilford Baptist Church, where he showed the love of Christ as a Deacon and also served as Chairman of the Deacon Board for the last two years before retiring at the age of 90.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Tate Wilson of seventy-two years; daughter, Bridgett Wilson Ridge; brothers, Vannie, James, and Jessie Wison and sisters, Thelma, Hazel, and Ruby Wilson.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his children, Cindy Wilson Stultz, Dianna Wilson Harrison, Ginger Wilson, and Susan Wilson Upton; grandchildren, Lauren Ridge Dean, Justin Stultz, Brandon Harrison, Brett Morales, Jennifer Upton Oakley, and Zachary Upton.  He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.

In honor of Mr. Wilson, memorials may be directed to the North Carolina State Firefighters Fund, 323 West Jones Street, Suite 401, Raleigh, NC 27603.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Guilford Baptist Church, 5904 West Market Street, Greensboro 27409.
