Carl Evans Obituary

Mr. Carl Penn Evans, 84, passed away on April 25, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday at Mt. Hope Baptist Church, 1117 Mt. Hope Church Road, McLeansville, NC 27301. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. The burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park and following the graveside, the family will be receiving friends at 670 Wheeler Road, Reidsville, NC 27320.

Carl was born on May 22, 1938, in Rockingham County to the late George Dewey and Mary Elizabeth Evans. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Evans; his granddaughter, Roxanne Murphy; his ten siblings and his stepson, Terry Duggins. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from Kayser-Roth. He was a member of Willomore Baptist Church. He was also a loving father, a loving husband, loved any kind of fishing, loved to play his guitar with his brothers and loved his dog, “Charlie”.

Carl is survived by his children, Dennis Evans (Lydia), Susan Shelton (Jeff), Tony Evans (Libby), Mark Evans, Jeannie Moore (Dale) and Chris Evans (Brooke); his stepsons, Allen Duggins and Tim Duggins; his 19 grandchildren; his 18 great grandchildren and his one great great grandchild.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Rockingham County Hospice (Gibson House) and would like to ask, that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rockingham County Hospice.
