Mrs. Carolyn Bowman Adams, 93, of Browns Summit, NC was called home to be with her Lord on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
She was born November 16, 1930 to the late Oscar Isaiah and Vera Tate Bowman in Guilford County where she lived her entire life. She attended Monticello High School where she met and later married her high school sweetheart Calvin Adams on December 17, 1948. Together they had four children.
Carolyn was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church. She used her servant's heart to volunteer in the nursery and visited the elderly. At the Adams' house, she made sure friends were always welcomed and offered food and drink and even a place to stay if needed. A garden and flowers around her home were evidence of her green thumb. She was the room mom for her children during their elementary school days guaranteeing she would be at every event and always was available to bring in homemade cookies. Birthdays always meant cake and candles and love. She was a caregiver for her husband during the last years of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Vera Bowman, brothers Clay, Vestal and Richard Bowman; and sisters, Betty Rumley and Mae Duggins.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 75 years, Calvin Adams; four children Bonnie Adams, Jimmy Adams, Shirley Beavers (Robert) and Tommy Adams (Paula); five grandchildren; Jeremy Beavers, Susan Beavers, Courtney Adams, Brooke Nelson (Ryan), Luke Adams (Taunee); and nine great grandchildren; Culley Beavers, Huxley Beavers, Lincoln Adams, Colby Nelson, Case Nelson, Deacon Adams, Weston Adams, Cash Nelson and Ivy Adams.
Graveside Services will be held at the church cemetery at Lebanon Baptist Church at 11:00 am on Monday, October 21, 2024. The family will greet friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
Special thanks to her precious caregivers, Tracy Walker and Vanessa Gray.
