Catherine Young (Cathy) McDaniel

Catherine “Cathy” Young McDaniel, 80, of McLeansville died Friday, May 9, 2025 at her residence.

Funeral will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at George Brothers Funeral Service with Pastor Larry Andrews officiating. Burial will follow the service at Lakeview Memorial Park.

Cathy was born in Glen Raven to the late Pastor William S. Young and Donnie (Dixon) Young. She was a member of Johnson Baptist Church where she served as treasurer, secretary, and choir leader. Cathy served as an assistant clerk with the Guilford County Clerk of Superior Court for over forty years.

Along with her parents, Cathy is preceded in death by her siblings, William S. (Buddy) Young, Jr., Mary Snow, Richard Young, Betty Bailey, Glen Young, Jerry Young, and Henry Young.

She is survived by her husband of Forty-seven years, Gary McDaniel; son David Scott Hobson (Angela); sisters, Carol Massey of Mebane and Donna Powell of Gibsonville; grandchildren, Jacob, Gillian, and Haley Hobson.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Johnson Baptist Church.
