Charles Blake Obituary

Mr. Charles David Blake, 92, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019.

A memorial gathering will be held Friday, May 3, 2019 from 11:00-12:30 at George Brothers Funeral Service. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 pm in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Charles was born July 3, 1926 in Rowan County to the late Charles Obed and Vivian Deed Gilliam Blake. He served his country in the US Army during WWII and was a graduate from NC State University. He was owner and operator of Blake Moving Company from 1966-1996, served as Past President of NC House Movers Association and on the first Board of Directors of the International Association of Structural Movers.  He was Past Master of Guilford Masonic Lodge #656, serving in 1977 and was a member of the Gate City Jaycees.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Salios Blake and 2 brothers, Howard and O’Neil Blake.

Survivors include his daughter, Carla Furr (Gary); his son, Mike Blake (Penny); 3 sisters, Ruth Purvis, Margaret Van Poucke and Anna Snider (Lee); 2 brothers, Jerry Blake (Mary Jo) and Henry Blake; a grandson, Stephen Blake and 2 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
