Charles Jerome Valentine, Sr., 85, of Trinity passed away Monday, May 4, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Jerome was born in Darlington County, SC to the late Jack and Hallie Valentine. He later moved to North Carolina where he raised his family. Jerome worked in maintenance for many years at New Market Elementary School and later for the City of High Point. He was a faithful provider for his family and he was a wonderful friend who never met a stranger. He greatly enjoyed bringing laughter and joy to his family and neighbors, often pulling practical jokes which would leave his family speechless - but always laughing all the way home. He was a wonderful husband, father, Pawpaw, brother, friend and neighbor who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Jerome is preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Burgette; and siblings Roxie, Patsy, Juanita, Jergie, Andrew, Velma, and Bonnie.
Jerome is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Bonnie Jacobs Valentine; his son Charles Jerome Valentine, Jr. (Catrina); daughters Serri Valentine and Charlene Valentine; grandchildren Marion, Christian, Nicholas, James, Oliviah, Bradley, Kenny, and Deborah Lynn; great-grandchildren Carson and Emsleigh; brothers Ronnie Valentine (Shelia) and Johnny (Cindy). Also surviving are numerous extended family members, friends, and neighbors whom he loved.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to those who have cared for Jerome and the family over the last few months, with a special thank you to Catrina, as well as to Alley and Tesha from Hospice of the Piedmont.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday, May 13th, 2026 beginning at 2:00pm at New Day Fellowship 100 Kenilworth Dr. High Point, NC 27260.
