Cheryl Warbritton Obituary

February 23, 1950- August 6, 2020 Cheryl Lee Connor Warbritton, 70, departed this world and moved into Heaven. The world is diminished and Heaven is newly adorned with one of earth’s brightest souls. Born in Greensboro to Earlene Smith Connor and George Connor she lived most of her life here in Greensboro. She was married on June 4, 1994 to David Warbritton and they became inseparable partners in every way.   Cheryl fought a three-year battle with metastatic breast cancer; although the cancer eventually took her body it never dimmed her spirit.    The family is comforted in knowing that not only was she greeted in heaven by her heavenly father she also was reunited with beloved family - her mother Earlene, Grandmother Minnie, Grandfather Bailey and stepson David Jr.  She was a faithful servant of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and she blessed every heart she ever touched.   Although the family grieves mightily we know that Cheryl is rejoicing in her new home.

Family was always first, and none more so than her eleven grandchildren who will always hold “Nana” or “Nina” in their hearts. Like her Mom, her calling was to serve others in the family on special occasions with prepared meals and her famous specialty baked treats. Her cooking and her spirit of giving was renowned by family and friends. She loved arts and crafts, painting and drawing, neddlepoint, crochet and reading her Bible. She followed numerous ministries every week on cable or via streaming.  Her faith was firm and unrelenting.

Cheryl worked in insurance service for many years, as a Realtor for several years at Keller Williams and most recently as an office manager at Stainback Appraisers.

Cheryl is survived by many who will treasure and love her eternally here on Earth and again one day in Heaven.   Husband, David Lee Warbritton Sr..   Daughter, Angela Phillips; husband John Phillips, sons Bennett, Weston and Johnathan.   Brothers; John Connor and wife Pam;  Larry Connor and wife Amanda; and Michael Padgett.   Four step children and families whom she loved as her own; Mindy Ramsey and daughter Taylor; Darren Warbritton and son Kristofer and extended family Catherine and Dakota; Amy Miller, husband Garrett, sons Garrett and Alex; and Kodi Warbritton (wife of David Jr.) and sons Tyler, Chase, and Joshua and daughter Maci .

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday August 11, 2020 at Life Community Church with a viewing beginning at 10:00am and a celebration of life at 11:00am. Graveside service will begin at 12:30-1:00 at Lakeview Memorial Park.    Receiving of friends and family at the home of Mike and Leslie Stainback immediately following graveside service.

Cheryl loved flowers and nature – flowers may be received in her honor at George Brothers Funeral Home in Greensboro.   Cheryl’s husband David and daughter Angela share Cheryl’s love of flowers and plan to make a memorial garden of any live plants which are received.

In this difficult time the family was blessed by the compassionate care provided by Hospice through Authoracare of Greensboro.  We would especially like to thank her nurse Maura, care giver Dedria, Molly and Hillary.     Please consider sending a donation in Cheryl’s name to further the care they provide to others in need.

Cheryl’s daughter Angela and family have been active fundraisers for American Cancer Society since Cheryl’s first diagnosis in 2017.   John and Angela have helped raised over $350,000 for cancer research since joining in on the fight to end breast cancer.   Cheryl’s grandsons Bennett, Weston and Johnathan are participating in this year’s Real Men Wear Pink in honor of their “Nina.” Donations may be made to American Cancer Society in Cheryl’s honor through their fundraising page at:
