Clayton Vernon Key

Mr. Clayton Vernon Key, 89, of Greensboro, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Glenwood Friends Church with Pastor Steve Zahare officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.

Vernon was born in Robbins, NC to the late Astor and Viola Moore Key. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. Mr. Key was a letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service. He was an active and faithful member of Glenwood Friends Church for over 60 years. Vernon enjoyed all things golf, especially playing with the seniors of Monroeton Golf Club in Reidsville. He was also an avid handy man in his spare time, completing many jobs of wallpapering over the years. Vernon was also very happy at his beloved Friends Homes Guilford where he made lasting friendships and enjoyed planting tomatoes and sharing his harvest with others.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Mrs. Mary Bulla Key. Also surviving are sons Perry Key (Pam) and Barry Key (Beth); grandchildren Courtney Key, Hannah Pless (Kayla), and Steven Key; sister Paulette Gillis (Reubin); and numerous extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00am prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be left to Authoracare Collective or to Glenwood Friends Church.
