Mr. Donald Britton Sowell, Jr., 64, of Randleman, North Carolina, passed away on October 22, 2025.
He was born in Lowndes County, Georgia on March 30, 1961. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Britton Sowell, Sr.; sister, Lisa Saidi; maternal grandparents, Leon and Laura Godwin; uncles, Reverend William Leon Godwin and his wife, Mabel, and John Godwin and his wife, Evelyn.
Donald was an electrician for many years in industry before becoming an educator at Guilford Technical Community College in the electrical program. He enjoyed spending time with his friends having a good cigar at Havana Phil’s Cigar Company. He was an avid cyclist and enjoyed going on pack rides with his buddies. He was also an avid birdwatcher and enjoying watching, caring for and feeding his many birds. Donald was an exceptional cook and enjoyed sharing his talent of cooking with his many friends.
Donald is survived by his mother, Cynthia Godwin Silagyi (Dale); aunts, Jeannie Bates and Glorier Godwin; brother-in-law, Jamel Saidi; his longtime girlfriend of twenty years, Tamlin Johnson; his BFF, Rita Cole; two nephews and numerous cousins, extended family and a host of special friends.
