Doris Kivette Farthing, 92, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2026 at her home. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Guilford Memorial Park with Chaplain Patricia Green and Pastor Donnie Phillips officiating.
Doris was born in Davidson County, NC to the late Virgil Tate and Vida Belle Harvey Kivette. She was a member of Buchanan Baptist Church. Doris retired from Sears and Roebuck after over 40 years, where she worked in many different departments. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, especially attending to the many varieties of flowers around her property. Doris was a wonderful mother who raised her family with her steady, yet firm, personality. She loved to cook for her family and was known for her canning, freezing, and butchering capabilities. She also loved her two cats, Brody and Diamond.
In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Charles Henry Farthing and a daughter, Sherry B. Levan.
Surviving are her children Sandra Huffine, Lisa Hawkins (Bryan), and Eric Cable; grandchildren Blaine and Brandon Huffine and Erin and Ian Cable; great-grandchildren Mack and Caleigh Cable; and her faithful caretakers Daphene Gaines, Dana T. Needham, and Sandra Brim.
The family would like to thank her caregivers from Hospice of the Piedmont. Donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of the Piedmont.
