Dorothy Walker Smith, 86, of Summerfield, formerly of Greensboro, NC, left this earthly world on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Clapp’s Nursing Center and is now rejoicing with her Lord and Heavenly family.
Dorothy (Dot) was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Born in Stokesdale, NC she was the youngest daughter out of 12 siblings. Dot graduated from Stokesdale High School and began her professional career at Western Electric. She later worked at P. Lorillard where her and her husband would resign to step out in faith and begin their Ministry together. Dot was a faithful Pastors wife serving Faith Baptist Church for 38 years. In Dot’s later years she stated that her last ministry would be to send cards to those that may need an encouraging message. She continued her ministry until just a few months before her homegoing.
Dot loved to spend time gardening, cooking, and most importantly spending time with her family and loved ones. Dot cherished her family and led them by example teaching everyone about love, dignity, forgiveness, and how to be a true Christian example.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Odell Smith, parents, Robert and Della Walker, and her siblings: Edward Walker, Robert Walker, Norman Walker, Carleen Williams, Paul Walker, Carl Walker, Alfred Walker, Lila Campbell, Lewis Walker, and Charles Walker.
Dot is survived by her daughters, Debra S. Stafford (William), Stephanie S. Sink (Jason), and Leslie P. Smith; her brother, Clyde Walker, her grandchildren, Heather H. Kindle, Aaron T. Hawks, Seth I. Bartenfield, and Aziam S. Gilchrist; along with six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Dot’s Homegoing Service will be 2:00pm Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Faith Baptist Church in Greensboro. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm – 2:00pm at the church prior to the service.
