Edith Rowell Hollandsworth, 81, of Greensboro, passed away on March 19, 2024.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 4, at George Brothers Funeral Service. An inurnment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
Edith was born on January 14, 1943, in Newport News, Virginia to the late Wadsworth Edgar and Lela Taylor Rowell.
After WW II, Edith's family moved to Greensboro, NC. Her older brother, Gorman Rowell, predeceased her during her younger years.
She met her husband, Randy Hollandsworth, in Greensboro and they were wed in 1963. They were married for 52 years until his death in 2015.
She is survived by her children, Dean Hollandsworth (Barbara) of High Point, NC, Johnny Hollandsworth (Jayne) of Vilas, NC and Robert Hollandsworth (Kara) of Clemson, SC and her two grandchildren, Trent Hollandsworth of Greensboro, NC and Seth Hollandsworth of Garner, NC.
Edith was a beloved mother to her sons and a wonderful grandmother to her grandsons, taking them on trips to the beach when young and cheering on their accomplishments as they grew up.
She was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley and loved to listen to his music. She was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to watch her favorite driver, Jeff Gordon.
Edith loved the many cats that she cared for over the years and especially Sneezy and Sweetie, both of whom predeceased her and the two cats that survived her, Mr. Sunshine and Mr. Blue Sky.
She also loved her many friends and enjoyed talking to them on the phone and visiting with them.
