Effie Ann (Owen) Church

Mrs. Effie Ann Owen Church, 64, of Climax, passed away on August 15, 2023.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday at George Brothers Funeral Service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Effie was born in Fayetteville, NC on October 17, 1958, to the late Paul and Doris Owen. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Earl Harrelson, Jr. Effie spent her entire career with the State Employees Credit Union. She had many hobbies and passions including gardening, flowers, the beach, cooking, the Green Bay Packers and the Carolina Panthers, dancing and was also a very talented artist. Her true love and passion though were her family, especially her “grands”.

Effie is survived by her husband, Harry James Church; children, Selina Plank (Craig), April Jones (Jamie) and Craig Harrelson (Jena); step children, Thomas Miller (Ashley) and Shannon Casey; grandchildren, Rachel, Leah, Jackson, Owen, Harper, Bryce, Thomas Jr. (Sanmaly), Avery James, Luke, Rebecca Jane, Ty and Seth; great grandchildren, Wyatt and Mabel; siblings, Mary Roach (Blaine), Paul Owen III (Wanda) and Mark Owen (Wendy) and her lifelong friends, Ann Moebes and Brandy Holloway.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SECU Foundation.
