Mrs. Elizabeth “Sandra” Cordle Vance, 76, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. She was surrounded by her devoted husband of 58 years and her loving family.
Funeral service will be held 1:00pm on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at New Testament Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Vance, Ben Vance, and Pastor Brett Seawell officiating. A graveside service will be held for the family at Salisbury National Cemetery on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 10:00am.
Sandra was born in Mercer County, West Virginia to the late Harry and Janice Cordle. She met the love of her life, James, in school where they fell in love before marrying and moving wherever his military service took them. They settled in Greensboro in 1970 where they joined New Testament Baptist Church. Sandra was a faithful member who served in many capacities over the years, touching the lives of numerous children through Sunday School and Children’s Church ministries. She dedicated her entire life to her Lord and to raising her family. Her family was spoiled by her patience, self-sacrifices, and her delicious cooking. If there was a meal to be had, she was bringing chicken and dumplings, banana pudding, and chocolate cake! Sweeter than her desserts was her personality and her heart for others. Sandra was known as “Mawmaw” to many more than just her family, and her love was evident through her gifts of treasures, time, and attention. Anyone and everyone was welcomed at her dinner table, and you always left with a full belly and a full heart.
In addition to her parents, Sandra is preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle; and her siblings Roger Cordle, Pat Cordle, and Randy Cordle.
Surviving are her husband James “Jim” Edward Vance, Sr.; children Minnie Maness (Allen), Jimmy Vance (Kathy), Kenny Vance (Debbie), Chris Vance (Lindsay), and Ben Vance (Jennifer); grandchildren Josh, Anna (Michael), Brittini, Maria (Daniel), Shannon, Kari, Hayden, Skye, Nicholas (Emily), Hayden, Saylor, Conner, and Spencer; great grandchildren Kenzi, Alex, Lillian, Wesley, Wyatt, Waylon, Harley, Logan, Amelia, and Montez “Mo”. Also surviving are her brother and sister-in-law Eddie and Ethel Cordle; sister and brother-in-law Kathy Hubbard and Rodney; sisters-in-law Yeah Cordle and Jane Cordle; brother-in-law David Vance; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends whom she loved dearly.
The family will receive friends from 11:30am-1:00pm at the church prior to the service.
George Brothers Funeral Service is honored to serve the Vance Family.
