Elizabeth "Polly" Parrish Obituary

Elizabeth “Polly” Ann Smith Parrish, 88, of Greensboro, went peacefully to her Heavenly home on Monday, April 20, 2026.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at George Brothers Funeral Service.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Elizabeth was born November 11, 1937, in Guilford County to the late Herman Bryant and Annie Coleman Smith. Raised on a tobacco farm, she worked hard and helped care for her younger siblings. She had quiet strength, a gentle spirit and was devoted to her family.  She was married for almost 50 years to the late Julius “J.D.” Parrish.  Her greatest joy (and challenge) was being a mother to seven children. Her home was lively and full of energy, yet she managed it with a steady hand of encouragement and support which shaped the lives of her children.

She was met in heaven by her children Lawrence “Punchie” Smith, Allan Parrish, and Deborah Riley. She will be dearly missed by children, Angie Sims (Todd), Dena Johnson, Phil Parrish, Ray Parrish (Pat), daughter-in-law, Julie Smith and son-in-law, Kevin Riley.  She had eighteen wonderful grandchildren and seventeen delightful great-grandchildren, of which she is now reunited with Brad Parrish and Sara Sims.  She has joined her brothers, Reid, J.C., Harry, Dennis, and Leon Smith. She leaves behind siblings Tom Smith (Carol) and Regina Lamonds (Roger).

The family would like to thank AuthoraCare Collective for their support and care.
