Elmo “Buddy” W. Teachey, Jr., 80, of Climax died Friday, May 16 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Gilmore Memorial Park, 6500 Liberty Rd in Julian, NC, with military honors.
Buddy was born in Wilmington, NC to the late Elmo and Katharine Teachey. He served with the United States Air Force during Vietnam, being honorably discharged as Sargent. He went on to retire with AT&T after many years of service. Buddy loved the outdoors camping, fishing and backpacking. He also volunteered with the Royal Rangers, a faith-based boys club.
Buddy is survived by his wife of fifty years, Betty Shepard Teachey; sisters, Sarah Williams of Dunn, Carolyn Hurley (Byron) of Burlington, and Gail Ezell (David) of Climax; nieces and nephews, Annette Williams, Dwight Williams, Mary Scott (Mike), Crystal Weeks (Mike), Brian Ezell (Stacey), and Corey Ezell (Julia); along with a host of family and friends that will miss him.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Garden Pentecostal Holiness Church, 5201 Davis Mill Rd, Greensboro, NC 27406 directed to the new sign fund.
