Faye (Garrett) Townsend

Mrs. Lauretta Faye Townsend, 74 years of age, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the Hospice House in Asheboro, NC.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at George Brothers Funeral Service. Pastor and friend, Dr. Lawrence Clapp, officiating.

Faye was a member of South Elm Street Baptist Church for over 40 years, serving in ministries of teaching both children and adults, Discipleship, Women’s ministry, Flower ministry and most recently leading GriefShare. She was gifted in many areas and enjoyed serving others through sharing God’s word and many times cooking and delivering a meal.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Ronald Townsend and children, Carol and Wes.

Faye is survived by her daughter, Tammy Stewart (Tate). Although Faye was an only child, she grew up with and was very close to her cousins. Ronald Moses (Cathy), Carol Strickland (Herman), Gearl “Red” Moses, and Earl “Shorty” Moses (Patsy). She was Nana to six grandchildren: Johnathan Hill (Sierra), Matthew Griffin, Lauren Lewis (Danny), Cody Stewart (Breanna), Taylor Townsend and Garrett Townsend. She also had six great-grandchildren: Ryan and twin brothers Aaron and Zachary Lewis, Wesley Hill, Paisley Stewart and Kinsley Stewart.

Faye was extremely loved by her family, friends and church family. During her illness over the last seven months, she had many volunteers who faithfully served her and she was so blessed by the presence of each one.

The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

Private Graveside service will be held at Gilmore Memorial Park at a later date.
