Frank Seymour Wilder, Sr.,born on May 28th, 1937, in Saltville, Virginia, passed away on March 15 at the age of 88.
He was the son of John Welles Wilder and Frances Green Wilder. His three brothers were his closest friends, Welles, Bert and Bill.
His wife of 66 years, Margaret Moore, will miss him greatly as will his five children; Nancy W. Gordon (Hart), Ann W. Williams (Kevin), Kellie W. Daley (Jerome), Jane W. Keller (Steve) and Frank S. Wilder, Jr. He also has 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Frank attended Central High School, Greensboro Senior High School, Guilford College with a BA Degree and East Carolina University with a Master Degree.
He spent the bulk of his career at Danville Community College in Virginia. He was the Audio Visual Aids Coordinator where he enjoyed photography and making videos for the college.
He was a Charter Member of Trinity Church under Pastor Roy Putnam. He loved Jesus and 1 Corinthians 13 was his favorite scripture. He also loved the old hymns.
Frank was a family man and enjoyed taking his family to their cottage on Aylen Lake, Ontario for many years. His first trip there was in 1952 when there was no electricity or running water. He loved fishing, skiing and taking his grandchildren tubing.
He was a man of many hobbies and interests, including reading, golfing, woodworking and spending time with his buddies. Music was a big part of his life throughout his years. He was self taught in playing the guitar, electric organ and piano.
Frank was a well loved man, who provided for his family in many ways. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him well.
Funeral arrangements are being taken care of by George Brothers Funeral Home. A Memorial service will be held on May 30th at Trinity Church in Greensboro.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Piedmont for their exceptional care of Frank and making his transition easier for him and the family.
