Gearlene (Hunt) Callicutt

Gearlene Hunt Callicutt, age 75 of Greensboro NC was called home to her Heavenly Father on Monday November 16 2020. She was with family. She was born in Maxton, NC on June 6, 1945 and the daughter of the late Willie Foster Hunt and Ella Ree Lowery Hunt.

Ms. Gearlene was a member of the Good Shephard Baptist Church of Greensboro and started working in the furniture Industry in 1977 and retired in 2015.

She was a member of the Lumbee Tribe of NC and was involved in her Native American Cultural. However, her most favorite accomplishment was her family – her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her legacy will live on in everyone’s heart that had the pleasure of knowing her.

Ms. Gearlene is survived by her daughter Amanda Ballard (Jason) of Randleman, NC; her grandsons Payne Jacobs(Nataly) of Greensboro, NC; Elijah Sheek of Randleman; bonus grandkids Jorden Ballard and Abby Hadley; three step- daughters Rebecca Collier(Steve), Juanita Evans(Ron), Kimberly Haney; three great grandchildren Avah Jacobs, Chance Jacobs and Kadsen Miner. Brothers Stacy Hunt, Ricky Hunt (Sheila); Sisters Mary Hazel Oxendine (Lee Roy) and Linda Hill (Marshall). She had an extended family that is as big as her heart.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harda A Callicutt on February 20, 2020; her son Terry Jacobs; her grandson Christopher Phoenix-Jacob Levy; brothers Carsee Hunt, Earl Locklear, Clayton Hunt, Willie Hunt Jr., Frank James Hunt; sisters Patsy Hunt and Angel Hunt; her beloved cat “Taz Cal”.

The family will receive friends at George Brothers Funeral Services on Thursday at 10am with the services beginning at 11am. Graveside service will be 3:30 pm on Thursday afternoon at Little Zion Church Cemetery located at 4118 Midway Road in Maxton NC.
