Mrs. Geraldine “Jewel” Smith Loye, 75, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022 at her home with her family by her side.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at George Brothers Funeral Service with Pastor Mike Barkley officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Loye was preceded in death by her parents, William and Jessie Smith; son, “Little Donnie”; two brothers; and four sisters.
Jewel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted friend who always looked for ways to help and give to others. She was a devout Christian who was a real servant of the Lord that was always sharing her faith and telling others how they can accept Jesus as their Savoir so they too could spend eternity in Heaven. She loved children and always donated to Native American Children’s Fund and St. Jude Children’s Hospital, as well as the police and fire departments. She loved to sing gospel music and sew as well, and was retired from Procter and Gamble.
Jewel is survived by her husband of 61 years, Delana Loye; daughter, Cynthia “Michelle” Loye, of Christiansburg, VA; son, Richard L. Loye, of Gibsonville; grandchildren, Richard L. Loye, Jr. and Nolan T. Loye; great-grandchild, Micah Loye; brother, Bud Smith; sister, Delores Shelton; sister, Judy Hemphill; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends whom she loved.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm on Tuesday at George Brothers Funeral Service prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Native American Children’s Fund or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
