Mr. Glenn Lindsay Allen, 79, of Greensboro passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on January 5, 2026.
A small ceremony to honor his time in the military will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 10, at George Brothers Funeral Service.
Glenn was born in Forsyth County on April 5, 1946, to the late Glenn Lindsay Jenkins and Hilda Gray Allen. Glenn was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He served in the Vietnam War where he earned a Purple Heart and received a Presidential Unit Citation and the M-14 Rifle Sharpshooters Badge. He was an electrician by trade and although he was known to be “wild in his day”, he was also known as the “neighborhood dad”. He was his family’s personal mechanic and carpenter and taught them to build a fire for warmth, build with wood, how to fish and how to swim. He was a “jack of all trades” but will be remembered the most for being a loving husband, father, grandfather, provider and friend.
Glenn is survived by the love of his life, Gloria Allen; daughters, Kim Webster (Eugene) and Andrea Johnson and his grandsons, Douglas Lindsay Allen and Robert Taylor Allen.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any contributions can be made to assist his daughter, Andrea Johnson. She was his primary caregiver and any contributions will go a long way to help her get back on her feet again.
