Gloria Morgan Ashley

It is of great sorrow that we announce the passing of Gloria Morgan Ashley, age 76.

A graveside service will be held September 2, 2023 at 11:00 am at Oakdale Cemetery in Hendersonville, NC. 

Gloria was born March 3, 1947 in Hendersonville, North Carolina to Juney Victor Morgan and Elizabeth Ruby Jones. Gloria grew up in Hendersonville, North Carolina and graduated from Hendersonville High School in 1964. She attended the Fashion Institute of America and Massey Junior College in Atlanta, Georgia and received an Associates of Arts degree in 1966.

She was a Teacher’s Assistant with Hillandale Elementary School for many years where she enjoyed empowering and encouraging the next generation of students. While living in Henderson County she made and enjoyed the company of many friends. In her spare time, she loved reading and collecting teddy bears, representing her qualities of being loyal, kind and friendly.

She was preceded in death by her husband William Herbert Ashley of 52 years, her parents, and son-in-law, James Austin Whiticar.

She is survived by her daughters Allison Ashley Koch and husband, Patrick Nathan Koch and Andrea Ashley Whiticar. She is also survived by her four grandchildren Violet Elizabeth Koch, Justin Patrick Koch, Connor James Whiticar and Morgan Ashley Whiticar.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
