Grady Greeson “Hoover”, 89, of Whitsett, NC returned to his Heavenly home on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 6:11 PM after steadily declining health issues.
Grady was born October 20th of 1931 in Whitsett, NC to the late Bud and Molly May Greeson. Grady quit school in the third grade to help on his family’s farm. Later, he successfully became employed at Hodgin Supply Co. of Greensboro, NC. He was employed forty-five years at the company. His boss, John A. Hodgin stated that “Grady was the perfect employee”.
Grady married Mary Moore in September of 1958. They had two daughters, Darlene and Lorrie.
He is a lifelong devoted member of Rock Creek Baptist Church in Whitsett, NC.
He has always loved being outdoors. From gardening to fishing with his brother and nephew at Morehead City. He also had a passion for horses. Some may even remember him lifting the front of a tractor in the air with his two bare hands.
Grady is preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Molly; his wife, Mary Moore; his daughter, Lorrie Ann; brothers, Fred, James, Buddy and Delmer Greeson; and his only sister, Essie Greeson Ward; and niece Shirley Moricle.
Grady is survived by his daughter, Darlene Greeson Reid. Three granddaughters, Melissa, Jessica, and Laura. Six great granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Makenzeigh, Rebekah, Aubry, Mason and Braylon. Nephews Buster and Mike Greeson, Ricky Whitsell and Junior Greeson. Nieces, Janice Pophal, Nan Fogelman, Lisa Whitsell, Deborah Mabe, Mary Lee Davis and Betty Gant. Lastly his furry companion, Cooper, and a host of great nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 6-8 pm at Brightwood Christian Church, 300 Brightwood Church Road, Gibsonville, NC 27377. Pastor Charlie Agnew will officiate the funeral on Friday, January 15, 2021 at 2:00 PM also at the church. Burial will follow at Rock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 6420 Abernathy Road in Whitsett alongside his late wife.
