Mr. Haywood “Lee” Simpson, Jr., 82, of McLeansville, passed away on April 23, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday at George Brothers Funeral Service. The burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Lee was born in Rockingham County on April 2, 1943, to the late Haywood and Allene Simpson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin daughters, Sharon Kay Simpson and Ellen Faye Simpson and his brothers, Donnie Simpson and Roger Simpson. He was retired from the United States Post Office, formerly an active member of Osceola Baptist Church, a Shriner and a member of the Masons. He loved to garden and was a master self-taught woodworker. He could build beautiful pieces using only his imagination to create with. He was also an avid golfer and hunter.
Lee is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Carolyn Simpson; daughters, Cara Simpson Duckett (Karl) and Barbara Simpson Smith (Jeff); grandchildren, Chris Presnell (Carly), Matthew Presnell (Dakota), Michaela Presnell, Trey Smith and Jacob Smith; great grandchildren, Caden Presnell, Harper Presnell and Carson Smith; brothers, Mike Simpson (Peggy) and Pat Simpson (Kathy) and sisters-in-law, Alice Simpson and Kay Simpson.
