Homer Hunt, 84, of Summerfield passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones early Thursday morning, December 5, 2024.
Funeral will be 2:00 PM Sunday, December 8, 2024 at George Brothers Funeral Service with Pastor Gerald Locklear and Pastor Jess Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
Homer was born September 19, 1940 in Robeson County to the late Sherman and Mabel Hunt. He was an iron-willed husband, father, and friend to many. He was a dedicated athlete holding the Greensboro Boxing Golden Glove Champion title, also playing and enjoying many other sports. He worked as a welder with General Metals and Industrial Air where he retired after forty-five years. In retirement, Mr. Hunt relished his untiring later years taking care of his pristine yard.
Along with his parents, Homer is preceded in death by brothers, Leon, Lindberg, Joe, Robert, Wilbert, Furman, James, and Thomas Hunt; and sisters, Helen, Barbara Ann, Naomi, and Myrtle.
Mr. Hunt was happily married and survived by his wife of forty-two years, Faye L. Hunt. Also left behind to treasure the memories and the life he made for his loved ones are his three living siblings, Alton Hunt (Judy), Candace Hardee (Kenny), and Eugene Hunt (Lynn); his three children, Lori Locklear (Louis), April Hunt Scott (Christopher), and David Hunt (Kathy); his step-children, Gary York (Amanda), Cheryl Stanley (Bob), Donna Coffer, Penny Brady, and Lisa A. Evans; his beloved grandchildren, Christopher Scott, Alisha Scott, Jonathan Locklear, Grace Hunt, Clint Allred, and Priscilla Dana Hunt; along with many loved great grandchildren and extended loved ones.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.
