James Raymond Dawson

James Raymond Dawson, 75, of McLeansville, passed away on July 21, 2022, at Moses Cone Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday at Bethel Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Paul Rhodes officiating. The burial will follow at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.

Raymond was born in Guilford County on May 21, 1947, to the late James A. and Mozelle Thomas Dawson. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Woodrow “Woodie” Dawson and his beloved son, Franklin Dawson. He loved to fish and tried to go as often as possible. He loved to garden and spent a lifetime serving others through his harvest of produce. Raymond was affectionately known as “The Vegetable Man” and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his children, Alex Dawson and Lynn Dawson; his grandson; great granddaughter; his cousins and best friends, Bill and Richard Rigney; siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
