James Wesley Weatherly, Jr.

On May 9, 2026, James Wesley Weatherly, Jr. “J W” went home to be with his Savior.

Memorial service will be 12:00 PM Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Stevens Memorial Baptist Church located on North Church Street in Greensboro where he was a member with Pastor Steve Walsh officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.

JW was born in Greensboro, NC to James Weatherly, Sr. and June Yokes Weatherly Hopkins. After school, JW served with the United States Marine Corps. After the military, JW moved back to Greensboro and joined the Guilford County Fire Department where he was an EMT trained fireman until his retirement.

In addition to his parents, JW is preceded in death by his sisters, Rebecca J. Weatherly and Susan W. Pheasant; nephews Joshua Thomas, Bradley Butler, Jason and Terry Chrisco.

JW is survived by his loving wife of thirty-one years, Joyce Butler Weatherly. They had a wonderful life together and spent enjoying time with their dogs. JW leaves a sister, Anna W. Horne as well as in-laws Jo Anne Chrisco (Glenn) and Diane Thomas (Vance). He also leaves nieces Maydee M. Chrisco, Rachel T. Post (Luke), Pamela Batson and nephews Isaac James Harris, Joseph Pheasant, and Christopher Fitzgerald (Katylin), Caleb Chrisco.
