Mr. James “Jim” William Mathis, 85, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025 at his home with his family by his side.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 2:00 pm at George Brothers Funeral Service with Pastor Will Fields officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
Mr. Mathis was preceded in death by his parents, John and Trissie Mathis; brothers, Johnny Mack, Tommy, and Terry Mathis; and sister, Dawn Hill.
Jim was a real “wheeler and dealer” who was always involved in making a trade or a deal to make a dollar. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help someone out. He retired from Olympic Products, a division of Cone Mills, as a sales representative. He was also the owner of High Point Quilting.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jerrine Mathis; his children, Rhonda Rampley, Chris Mathis (Debra), Randy Weavil, Karen Atkins (Jimmy), and Gary Weavil (Pam); six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; special friends, Rick and Sherry Allison, and Ken Dickson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends whom he loved.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:45-1:45 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to make a donation to your local Hospice group in appreciation of the care they gave to Jim.
