For the past fourteen months, Jesse Heraldean Barbour has said, “I want to go home” or “I am ready to go home" and the good Lord received him home on April 15, 2025.
Memorial service will be 3:30 PM Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Good Shepherd Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
What a glorious Easter he will celebrate with his Lord and Savior, his wife, Phyllis and Daughter, Toni not to mention all the other family members and close friends who have gone on before him.
Heraldean was truly loved by many and touched hearts everywhere with his amazing voice. He dedicated his whole life to singing for his Lord and Savior. Each song he sang from his soul for his Lord was so strong.
Heraldean retired from the Greensboro Post Office in 1998 serving over thirty years as a letter carrier. He then worked for Walker’s Express as a carrier.
He was a faithful member of Gate City Baptist Church until his health began failing. He also attended Good Shepherd Church when he was able during the last year.
Heraldean was born in Johnston County to the late John Lloyd Barbour, Sr. and Bertha Core Barbour on July 9, 1933. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John; wife, Phyllis; and daughter, Toni.
Heraldean was a man of great love. Phyllis would often brag about him to family, friends, and co-workers and many used him as a role model.
Heraldean is survived by Daughter Cynde Barbour Dorzweiler, Grandson Garrett Dorzweiler, his adopted son David Moose; honorary daughters, Sharon Duggins, Toni Priddy, Betty Newkirk, Judy Byrd, and Miss Cookie.
